Had some time to check out Break of Dawn Restaurant in Laguna Hills, and I was particularly pleased by the restaurant's Butternut Squash Bisque. It's velvety (but not too thick) texture was particulary inviting on this cold mid-morning and was just what I needed to get that warm, content feeling that's so elusive during hectic days. It slowed my world down, if only just for a few minutes.

 

As a savory entree, the soup comes with Crispy Crab Rolls, a great dipping accompaniment. The saltiness of the egg rolls pair well with the underlying sweetness of the bisque and overall makes for a satisfying lunch.
